Introduction

AKINSUN quality Hotband® Heaters are specifically designed to apply heat by conduction to cylindrical surfaces. Heater performance and service life depend on the ability to transfer heat from the resistance windings to the cylinder quickly, evenly, and efficiently.

Applications

Band heaters are widely used on smooth steel nozzles, barrels of plastic molding and extrusion machines, pipes, and other cylindrical surfaces.
The maximum allowable sheath temperature is 750°F (400°C).

Features

Clamping

A low-expansion stainless steel clamping band provides a uniform fit, eliminating air gaps and ensuring maximum heat transfer. As operating temperature increases, the clamping force tightens, further improving heat distribution.

Sheath

The corrosion-resistant, specially treated steel sheath offers excellent thermal conductivity and high emissivity, efficiently transferring heat from the electrical winding to the cylinder surface.

Ribbon Heating Element

High-quality Nickel-Chromium resistance ribbon is evenly wound on selected high-temperature mica, providing uniform and consistent heat distribution around the cylinder.

Mica Insulation

Mica insulation features extremely high dielectric strength, low electrical loss, high surface and volume resistivity, and excellent thermal stability. It offers high shear and tensile strength, conforms to cylindrical surfaces without cracking, is chemically inert, fireproof, and non-flammable.

Termination

Heavy-duty terminal post construction is standard on AKINSUN mica band heaters. The terminals will not electrically degrade under normal tightening torque. Post terminals (10-32 screw thread size) are securely fastened to the windings, ensuring a positive, reliable, and trouble-free electrical connection.
