General Information
Akinsun’s electric line of tubular heaters is the most versatile of all heating elements.
They can be used in straight or formed configurations. Since most tubular heaters are
designed for specific applications, this section serves as a guide for your design
requirements. Due to their flexibility, they are suitable for heating liquids, gases,
radiant applications, and for casting into aluminum, bronze, or iron.
Construction
Akinsun tubular heaters are manufactured using the highest quality materials and
carefully researched production methods. A nickel-chromium resistance wire coil is
precisely centered within the tube and packed with high-purity magnesium oxide (MgO).
After filling, the tube is compacted by rolling or swaging, elongating the tube,
thickening the wire, and compressing the MgO into a dense, solid mass. This process
permanently stabilizes the coil in the center of the tube, preventing movement during
forming and operation.
